We´ll take you on an adventurous super-jeep tour to Thorsmörk, a stunning nature in the Icelandic Highlands.

JUNE 21, 2022

A world leader in gender equality, Iceland has long been on the top United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Gender Equality List, granted women the right to vote in 1915, and elected the first openly gay female Prime Minister. In addition, the Icelandic Parliament — the oldest in the world, founded in the year 930 — has passed several laws to ensure gender equality in the workplace, including a recent law that makes it illegal to pay women less than men, and another establishing a minimum number of women required to sit on the boards of private and public companies.

Led by a team of expert female guides and drivers, the Kona Tour includes unique opportunities for women travelers to meet female experts and politicians in Iceland’s gender equality sector, including specialists from our ministries and departments on social issues, welfare, and gender equality. To round out your experience, you’ll be based in and explore the capital of Iceland, Reykjavík, and make excursions to more remote regions to see the natural wonders Iceland is known for.

This tour is based on The Kona Tour, which is a 5 days tour, but adapted and trimmed specially for THE SELFMADE SUMMIT.

After the days on the SELFMADE SUMMIT it’s time to do something totally different. We offer you a tour to Thorsmörk where we´ll be crossing some 10-15 rivers. We’ll enter the glacier lagoon by the Gígjökull glacier, the lagoon that filled up with melting water from the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption in 2010, broke and emptied, allowing us now to drive inside it and towards the glacier. After enjoying the empty glacier lagoon we continue our way towards Langidalur (long valley). There we´ll walk up on a small mountain, Valahjúkur, and from there we´ll walk to Húsadalur where we´ll have lunch. After the lunch we start heading back, crossing the Krossá river and to the Stakkholtsgjá canyon, a site from The Game of Thrones. You´ll be North of the Wall.

Please bring warm clothes and rain gear, hiking shoes, hats and gloves, no jeans. The weather in Iceland is unpredictable.
